Palestine Heritage Workshops

Every year, Sporas has hosted educational workshops in schools catered to cohorts from Grades 3-8, and focus on topics like Palestinian Heritage and Palestinian History. Through engaging presentations and hands-on activities, these workshops provide a great opportunity for students to learn about the diversity of culture in our community!

Sahtain Wah Hana

Sporas proudly hosted Sahtain Wah Hana during Ramadan 2025! Led by a community elder, we gathered our community members for an evening to learn how to make ka’ak, a Palestinian bread that is a staple of Eid dinners. It was an enriching way to connect with our Palestinian heritage and we also shared a delicious communal Iftar with those around us!

Land Day

Land Day is a day for Palestinians to honor the six Palestinians killed while peacefully protesting the illegal annexation of their land. This is a day to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to our land, the liberation of our people and our right to return. A day to learn of our connection to the land.

Annual Palestine Festival

Sporas hosts the annual Palestine Festival in collaboration with the Palestinian Youth Movement. This vibrant celebration brings Palestinian presence to the KW region and welcomes all communities in learning more about Palestine and its rich culture. Featuring youth activities and entertainment that showcase Palestinian heritage.

Tatreez Workshops

Sporas hosts Tatreez workshops, delving into the rich history of Tatreez across various Palestinian cities. Explore how this traditional embroidery persevered as a form of cultural resistance post-1948. Join us in celebrating heritage and resilience through the art of Tatreez.

“Tell My Story” Art Exhibit

Sporas proudly hosted the 2024 Palestine Art Exhibit titled “Tell My Story,” inviting the Kitchener-Waterloo community to express solidarity with Palestine and its people through diverse art forms. Join us in celebrating cultural expression and standing in solidarity with Palestinian narratives.

Poetry Competition

Sporas hosted a poetry competition, inspiring youth to use literature as a powerful medium to express solidarity with Palestine.

Town Hall

An event hosted by Palestinian Youth Movement, Sporas Scattered, Independent Jewish Voices, and Waterloo For Palestine for a panel discussion  on the rise of anti-Palestinian Racism, suppression of Pro-Palestinians voices, the apathy our community leaders have shown, and the work each organization has be doing to support our community.

Dabke Teach In

Sporas delved into the rich tapestry of Dabke and its significance in Palestinian resistance. This was an opportunity to not only learn about the pivotal role Dabke plays in Palestinian heritage, but a chance to learn the dance that has united us for decades.
